I remember the ice-cold consomm? in the cups, and the fillets of sole, and the hot shoulder of lamb. I remember the burnt sugar sweet, the sharp savoury that followed.	Помню баранью ногу. Я помню сласти и фрукты, поданные потом.

'We had the evening papers about two hours ago.' she said, 'and the verdict was a frightful shock to both Giles and myself.	- Мы получили два часа назад вечерние газеты, -сказала она, - и нас с Джайлсом страшно поразил вердикт.
What does Maxim say about it?'	Что говорит Максим?
' I think it was a shock to everybody,' I said.	- Я думаю, вердикт нас всех поразил, - сказала я.
' But, my dear, the thing is preposterous.	- Но, милочка, это абсолютная нелепость!
Why on earth should Rebecca have committed suicide?	С чего Ребекке вдруг кончать самоубийством?
The most unlikely person in the world.	Это совершенно на нее не похоже.
There must have been a blunder somewhere.'	Видимо, при дознании что-то напутали.
' I don't know,' I said.	- Не знаю.
'What does Maxim say?	- А что говорит Максим?
Where is he?' she said.	Где он?
'People have been here,' I said -	- У нас тут были люди, - сказала я.
' Colonel Julyan, and others.	- Полковник Джулиан и другие.
Maxim is very tired.	Максим очень устал.
We're going up to London tomorrow.'	Мы едем завтра утром в Лондон.
' What on earth for?'	- Это еще зачем?
' Something to do with the verdict.	- Что-то связанное с вердиктом.
I can't very well explain.'	Мне трудно объяснить.
